Healthy Mouth, Healthy Body

Did you know that the health of your pet’s teeth and gums can affect the rest of their body, too? Infections that start in the mouth can travel through the bloodstream and impact vital organs like the heart.

By the age of 3, more than 80 percent of dogs and cats will have some form of periodontal disease. Regular dental checkups and cleanings can help you keep your pet’s teeth and gums healthy, especially when used in conjunction with home care.

Spotting Dental Disease in Pets

Most pets with severe periodontal disease will not have any clear symptoms and may continue to eat and drink normally. While our pets can’t verbally tell us when they have an issue, there are some of signs of dental disease that can clue you in to a problem.

  • Bad breath
  • Loose or broken teeth
  • Swollen, red, or bleeding gums
  • Trouble or lack of desire to eat
  • Pawing at the mouth

If you notice any of these signs in your pets, it’s important to schedule an appointment so we can evaluate further.

Full-Mouth Dental X-ray

Did you know that most of your pet's teeth is located below the gumline? Dental X-rays are the gold standard of diagnosis that allows our team to identify issues below the gum line. This allows us to catch and treat issues such as periodontal disease, root abscesses, and bone loss as early as possible.
